EEA/EU Family Visa

Documents Required

All documents must be dated within 30 days of application submission. Original documents must be presented at the appointment, while photocopies must be submitted unless otherwise specified.

Visa Application Documents

Visa Application Form

• Completed and signed

Passport

• Original passport valid for at least 90 days beyond return
• Must have at least 2 blank pages and be issued within the last 10 years
• Include copies of previous Schengen visas issued in the past 3 years
• Submit old passport if required

Photograph

• One recent colour photograph, not older than 6 months

UK Residency

• UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code

Proof of Relationship

• Valid passport or national ID of the EEA/EU or Swiss family member (original to be seen)
• Marriage or birth certificate (original to be seen)
  • If not in English, Latvian, or Russian, must be translated by a certified translator in the UK
  • If issued outside the EU/EEA/Swiss Confederation, must be legalised or apostilled

Proof of Joint Travel

• Confirmed return travel tickets showing both applicant’s and family member’s names and travel dates
• If travelling by car:
  • Car registration and insurance
  • Ferry/Eurotunnel tickets with car registration number
  • Driving licence of the driver
  • If applicant is not the driver, provide a signed cover letter from the driver confirming joint travel
• If booked through an agency, include receipt or payment confirmation
• Written consent (signed and dated) from the EEA/EU or Swiss national family member confirming joint travel
• Photocopy of the family member’s passport or ID (bio and signature page)

Additional Requirements for Certain Nationalities

Applicants from specific countries listed under Cabinet Regulation No. 554 must submit a completed questionnairealong with their application.

This includes nationals of:
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Syria, Yemen, and other countries specified by Latvian authorities.

Also applies to:

• Residents or persons born in Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, or Palestinian Authority
• Foreigners with refugee or stateless status

Optional Supporting Documents (If Requested)

Depending on individual circumstances, additional documents may be required, including:

Proof of Current Occupation

• Employer letter + 3 months’ payslips
• Student letter (if applicable)
• Self-employment letter with supporting documents from accountant, solicitor, or bank manager
• Companies House Certificate of Incorporation

Unemployed/Retired Applicants

• Benefits letter from Jobcentre/Pension Service
• Or personal cover letter explaining financial situation

Housewife/Househusband

• Documents proving spousal sponsorship
  • Marriage certificate, passport, proof of funds, occupation letter, cover letter

Proof of Finance

• Latest 3 months of UK bank statements
• Must show name, address, and balance dated within the last month
• Online statements and travellers’ cheques accepted

Proof of Accommodation

• Confirmed hotel/hostel reservation with applicant’s name, dates, and address
• If reserved under another name: joint travel letter + ID copy of that person
• Group reservations must include full name list

Travel Insurance

• Must show applicant’s name
• Valid for full Schengen Area and trip duration
• Minimum cover: €30,000 for medical emergency and repatriation
• Single entry: must also cover additional 15-day grace period
• Multiple entry: must cover entire first trip

Photo Specifications

Applicants must provide one recent colour photograph, taken within the last 6 months, meeting the following requirements:

Background

• Light-coloured background (white or off-white)
• Facial features must be clearly distinguishable with good contrast

Quality & Composition

• High-resolution and in clear focus
• Full face visible, with a neutral expression (no smiling)
• No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings
  • Exceptions made only for religious or cultural reasons

Format

• Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
• Photograph must be paper clipped to the visa application form (do not glue or staple)

Important

• If the photograph does not meet the above standards, the application will be considered incomplete
• Applicants may be required to take new photos at the visa application centre’s photo booth
