Tourist Visa

Documents Required

All documents must be dated within 30 days of application submission. Original documents must be presented at the appointment, while photocopies must be submitted unless otherwise specified.

Visa Application Documents

Visa Application Form

• Completed and signed

Passport

• Original passport valid for at least 90 days beyond return date
• Issued within the last 10 years
• At least 2 blank pages
• Photocopies of all previous Schengen visas from the last 3 years
• Old passport must be submitted if previous visas are endorsed in it

Photograph

• One recent colour photo (35x45mm), not older than 6 months

UK Residency

• UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code

Proof of Current Occupation

Employed Applicants

• Employer letter (original, dated within 30 days), confirming employment
• Last 3 months’ payslips

Students

• University or college letter (original, dated within 30 days), confirming enrolment

Self-Employed Applicants

• Self-employment letter (original, dated within 30 days), obtained from:
  • Accountant
  • Solicitor
  • Bank Manager
• Certificate of Incorporation from Companies House (if applicable)

Unemployed or Retired Applicants

• If receiving benefits: Letter from Jobcentre or Pension Service (original)
• If not receiving benefits: Personal cover letter explaining financial situation

Housewife/Househusband Sponsored by Spouse/Partner

• Marriage certificate (original + copy; translated if not in English, Latvian or Russian)
• Spouse/partner’s passport (original + copy)
• Spouse/partner’s proof of occupation
• Spouse/partner’s proof of finance
• Signed sponsorship letter from spouse/partner

Proof of Finance

• Last 3 months of UK bank statements
• Must show applicant’s name, address, and balance dated within 30 days
• Minimum balance should cover £13.00 per day of stay + travel and accommodation expenses
• Online bank statements or travellers’ cheques are also acceptable

Proof of Travel

• Confirmed return tickets showing applicant’s name and travel dates
• If travelling by car:
  • Car registration and insurance
  • Ferry or Eurotunnel return tickets
  • Driving licence of the driver
  • If applicant is not the driver: A signed cover letter from the driver confirming joint travel
• If booked via a travel agency: Receipt or payment confirmation must be included

Proof of Accommodation

Tourist Visa Applicants

• Hotel, hostel, or similar confirmed booking
• Must include applicant’s name, travel dates, and address
• If the booking is under someone else’s name:
  • Signed joint travel confirmation letter from that person
  • Copy of their passport or ID

Visitor Family/Friends Visa Applicants

• Invitation from host in Latvia
  • Approved by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (case/reference number required),
  • Confirmed by the Latvian Embassy in London, or
  • Original invitation letter from host confirming:
    • Applicant’s name
    • Duration and address of stay
    • Host’s ID/passport copy
    • If the host is a non-EU national: Latvian residence permit copy also required

Travel Insurance

• Must clearly display the applicant’s name
• Must be valid throughout the Schengen Area for the full stay
• Minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency medical care and repatriation (including death clause)
• For single entry: Must also cover an additional 15-day grace period
• For multiple entry: Must cover the duration of the first intended stay

Photo Specifications

Applicants must provide one recent colour photograph, taken within the last 6 months, meeting the following requirements:

Background

• Light-coloured background (white or off-white)
• Facial features must be clearly distinguishable with good contrast

Quality & Composition

• High-resolution and in clear focus
• Full face visible, with a neutral expression (no smiling)
• No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings
  • Exceptions made only for religious or cultural reasons

Format

• Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
• Photograph must be paper clipped to the visa application form (do not glue or staple)

Important

• If the photograph does not meet the above standards, the application will be considered incomplete
• Applicants may be required to take new photos at the visa application centre’s photo booth
