Transit Visa

Documents Required

All documents must be dated within 30 days of application submission. Original documents must be presented at the appointment, while photocopies must be submitted unless otherwise specified.

Visa Application Documents

Visa Application Form

• Completed and signed

Passport

• Original, valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date
• Issued within the last 10 years
• Minimum 2 blank pages
• Include photocopies of any Schengen visas issued in the past 3 years
• Submit old passport if previous visas are endorsed in it

Photograph

• One recent colour photo (35x45mm), not older than 6 months

UK Residency

• UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code

Proof of Current Occupation

Employed Applicants

• Employer letter (original, dated within 30 days), confirming employment
• Last 3 months’ payslips

Self-Employed Applicants

• Self-employment letter (original, dated within 30 days), from one of the following:
  • Accountant
  • Solicitor
  • Bank Manager
• Certificate of Incorporation from Companies House (if applicable)

Proof of Business Invitation

• Invitation approved by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs in Latvia (case/reference number required)

OR

• Original signed invitation letter from the business partner or conference organiser in Latvia, including:
  • Applicant’s full name
  • Purpose of visit
  • Dates and duration of stay
  • Company details (name, address, contact details)
  • Signatory’s full name and position
  • Confirmation of whether travel/accommodation expenses will be covered

Proof of Finance

• Latest 3 months of UK bank statements
• Must show applicant’s name, address, and balance dated within 30 days
• Must demonstrate coverage of at least £13.00 per day of stay + travel and accommodation costs
• Online statements and travellers’ cheques are accepted

Proof of Travel

• Confirmed return tickets with applicant’s name and travel dates
• If travelling by car:
  • Car registration and insurance
  • Ferry or Eurotunnel tickets
  • Driving licence of the driver
  • If not the driver: A signed cover letter from the driver confirming joint travel
• If booked through an agency: Receipt or proof of payment must be submitted

Proof of Accommodation

• Confirmed hotel, hostel, or similar booking
• Must include applicant’s name, dates of stay, and full address
• If booked under another person’s name:
  • Signed joint travel confirmation letter from that person
  • Photocopy of their ID or passport (and signature page, if applicable)
• For group bookings: A full list of group members or travel ticket with names must be provided

Travel Insurance

• Must clearly show applicant’s name
• Must be valid throughout the Schengen Area for the entire trip
• Minimum coverage: €30,000 for emergency medical and repatriation (including death clause)
• Single entry: Insurance must cover an extra 15-day grace period
• Multiple entry: Insurance must cover the entire first intended stay

Photo Specifications

Applicants must provide one recent colour photograph, taken within the last 6 months, meeting the following requirements:

Background

• Light-coloured background (white or off-white)
• Facial features must be clearly distinguishable with good contrast

Quality & Composition

• High-resolution and in clear focus
• Full face visible, with a neutral expression (no smiling)
• No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings
  • Exceptions made only for religious or cultural reasons

Format

• Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
• Photograph must be paper clipped to the visa application form (do not glue or staple)

Important

• If the photograph does not meet the above standards, the application will be considered incomplete
• Applicants may be required to take new photos at the visa application centre’s photo booth
