National Visa

Documents Required

All applicants must ensure documents are recent (within 30 days) and presented in originals with photocopies. Incomplete submissions or incorrect categories may lead to processing delays.

Standard Documentation (All Applicants)

Visa Application Form

• Completed, printed, and signed.

Photograph

• One recent colour photograph (3×4 cm).

Travel Document

• Valid passport including copies of all pages with entries or tags.
• The applicant must certify the copy with full name, date, and signature.

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Criminal Record Certificate

• Required if the applicant has resided in their home or citizenship country for over 12 months.

Kinship Proof

• Official document confirming relationship with the Latvian citizen/resident.

Means of Support

• Proof of subsistence to cover stay in Latvia:
  • €740 per adult
  • €222 per minor

State Fee Payment Receipt

• Document confirming payment of the relevant visa fee.

Additional Questionnaire

• Required for citizens of Russia, Belarus, or nationals under additional scrutiny.

Additional Category-Specific Documents

Minor Children

• Consent to travel: Notarised permission from the non-accompanying parent or a court ruling if sole custody applies.
• Criminal record: Required if child is aged 14 or older.
• Kinship document: Birth certificate or equivalent.

Latvian/Liv Ancestry Applicants

• Document confirming Latvian or Liv origin (e.g. family registry or official certificate).

Spouse/Child of Foreign Temporary Residence Holder

• Provide proof of the sponsor’s valid temporary residence permit in Latvia.

Dissolution of Marriage – Custody Pending

• Proof of ongoing legal proceedings.
• Document confirming interim family connection or care arrangement.

Important Notes

• Each applicant must ensure all documentation is aligned with the selected visa category.
• Documents not in English, Latvian, or Russian must be translated by a certified UK translator.
• The embassy may request additional documents or interview during the evaluation.

Photo Specifications

Applicants must provide one recent colour photograph, taken within the last 6 months, meeting the following requirements:

Background

• Light-coloured background (white or off-white)
• Facial features must be clearly distinguishable with good contrast

Quality & Composition

• High-resolution and in clear focus
• Full face visible, with a neutral expression (no smiling)
• No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings
  • Exceptions made only for religious or cultural reasons

Format

• Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
• Photograph must be paper clipped to the visa application form (do not glue or staple)

Important

• If the photograph does not meet the above standards, the application will be considered incomplete
• Applicants may be required to take new photos at the visa application centre’s photo booth
