National Visa

Documents Required

All documents must be dated within the last 30 days. Originals must be presented with photocopies. Incomplete or incorrectly filed applications may cause delays.

Standard Documentation (All Categories)

Visa Application Form

• Completed, printed, and signed.

Photograph

• One recent colour photograph (3×4 cm).

Travel Document

• Valid passport, copies of all pages with entries or stamps/visa, certified by the applicant (copy correct, number of pages, surname, date, signature).

UK Residency

• Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code. (if applicable)

Criminal Record Certificate

• Required if the applicant has resided in their citizenship or home country for more than 12 months.

State Fee Payment Receipt

• Document confirming payment of the applicable fee.

Additional Questionnaire

• Required for applicants from Russia, Belarus, and nationals under enhanced scrutiny.

Category-Specific Supporting Documentation

Religious Activity

• Letter of Referral from a foreign religious organisation
• Ordination Document or equivalent certificate
• Proof of Financial Means: Minimum of €740 per month

Retiree from a Visa-Free Country

• Pension Document showing a minimum income of €1,028 per month
• Proof of Financial Means: Pension income sufficient to cover living expenses

Permanent Residence Permit (after 5 years of temporary stay)

• Proof of Continuous Legal Stay in Latvia for 5 years under a valid temporary residence permit
• Proof of Financial Means: Minimum of €740 per month
• Proof of Address in Latvia, if planning to change residence
• Latvian Language Proficiency Certificate (minimum A2 level)

Important Notes

• All non-English, Latvian, or Russian documents must be translated by a certified translator in the UK.
• Visa categories under this section require careful assessment—applicants must choose the correct route to avoid processing delays.
• The Latvian authorities may request additional documents or invite applicants for an interview.

Photo Specifications

Applicants must provide one recent colour photograph, taken within the last 6 months, meeting the following requirements:

Background

• Light-coloured background (white or off-white)
• Facial features must be clearly distinguishable with good contrast

Quality & Composition

• High-resolution and in clear focus
• Full face visible, with a neutral expression (no smiling)
• No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings
  • Exceptions made only for religious or cultural reasons

Format

• Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
• Photograph must be paper clipped to the visa application form (do not glue or staple)

Important

• If the photograph does not meet the above standards, the application will be considered incomplete
• Applicants may be required to take new photos at the visa application centre’s photo booth
